Landscapes of Utah
Not far from Moab, Utah, lies the small community of Castle Valley where Sidney and John Pace settled in 1888. The Pace Ranch was well-known for its cattle and plentiful harvests, and the family ran a small store selling dry goods and tools. On an unseasonably warm Christmas Day, my wife and I went for a leisurely drive from our home in Grand Junction, along the Colorado River on Highway 128 toward the town of Moab. These photographs are of the old Pace homestead. I love making these sort of photographs with rich texture and detail, the kind of print that makes you want to explore and touch it.
