These images are created by a combination of a slow shutter speed while intentionally moving the camera. Sometimes I'll get a surprise effect... like this image where it appears to be pouring rain, but it's really not. The challenge in creating these sort of images is that composition, contrast and color still matter,

but the resulting image relies on a bit of luck.
